First Dialogue

Ambrose Lucifera: A good evening to you. It... it is evening, isn't it?

Sleeper: You seem to be enjoying yourself

Ambrose Lucifera: Oh yes, well, while I do steer the wheel of many massive business venturers, my true skill and calling is in carousing.

Sleeper: Goodbye

Ambrose Lucifera Lore: After Sub-prefect Tors death.

Ambrose Lucifera: Well, well, well... if it isn't the charming and depraved friend who tried to offer my innards personal vioalence via poison.

Sleeper: There was a terrible misunderstanding. I apologize.

Ambrose Lucifera: Do not apologize to me, my good assassin. Apologize to my dear, bereaved friend Marcel.

Sleeper: What are you talking about?

Ambrose Lucifera: When I popped the cork, Marcel's adolescent son Delon bounded forward, begging for his first sip of wine, and his father acquiesced.

Sleeper (A): Is this supposed to elicit some kind of guilt?

Ambrose Lucifera: You sir are... a monster.

Sleeper: And you are a terrible liar.

Ambrose Lucifera: Ha-ha! I am a wicked, wicked man! But I had you going for a moment. I know I did!

[Next] Ambrose Lucifera: But enough of that. Tut-tut, a rap on the wrist, and we can be friends again.

Sleeper: You are a peculiar man.

Ambrose Lucifera: Yes, well, holding a grudge is such a tedious and exhausting enterprise.

[Next] Ambrose Lucifera: The truth is, i suspected something from the first. That's why I lobbed you that moral dilemma of poisoning a whole party, to what you would do.

[Next] Ambrose Lucifera: I was going to run that bottle of wine by Thufir iether way, just to be safe. Though you were positively Mephistophelian with you temptation.

Sleeper: So you work with Thufir Hawat?

Ambrose Lucifera: Yes. A cavorting yellow like myself can get into places more serious facades cannot.

[Next] Ambrose Lucifera: I feed the Harkonnen oodles of false information, and they have very good time while I do.

Sleeper: And here I thought you were jus a corrupt businessmen.

Ambrose Lucifera: Ha-ha! Oh, my dear, sweet friend, I am. I am! I'm just charmingly corrupt. I'm a good-natured adjacent. A scoundrel worth keeping arround.

Sleeper: Goodbye.

Sleeper (B): Oh no...

Ambrose Lucifera: Poor, sweet Delon. He perished in a macabre opera of convulsions and gore. Marcel tore his own hair out.

Sleeper: We didn't mean to...

Ambrose Lucifera: Even more tragic, the darling boy had just miraculously recovered from a crippling disease. He so looked forward to his newfound life.

Sleeper (A): How do I make amends?

Ambrose Lucifera: Ha-ha! I am a wicked, wicked man! But I had you going for a moment. The stomach-dropping guilt! You deserve no less.

[Next] Ambrose Lucifera: But enough of that. Tut-tut, a rap on the wrist, and we can be friends again.

Sleeper (B): Wait... you're putting me on.

Sleeper: We meet again.

Ambrose Lucifera: And what desperate act of criminality are you here to accuse me of this time?

Sleeper: Nothing at this time.

Ambrose Lucifera: That's not way to leave it. What happened? it's absolutely excruciating to be involved in the plot, even from the periphery, and not know the ending.

Sleeper: Would you like to know what really happened?

Ambrose Lucifera: Oh yes. Do tell!

Sleeper (A): Sub-prefect Tors is dead. the killer got him too.

Ambrose Lucifera: That's... unexpected. I wonder how the aftershocks of the death will effect the political landscape of Arrakis.

Sleeper: It was all tangled plot, by very secretive cabal, that went horribly wrong.

Ambrose Lucifera: Plans-within-plans. So hard to keep straight all the deceit and the players upon the deadly stage. Best to keep a well-lubricated mind. Fancy a drink.?

Sleeper: Goodbye.

Sleeper (B): Sub-prefect Tors is dead. A Face Dancer took his identity and poisoned banquet.

Ambrose Lucifera: A duplicitous doppelgänger dared to be despicable deed and deadly deceit? Ha-ha! What an outlandish tale. Keep your secrets, then, I understand.

Sleeper (C): The killer got away. Sub-prefect Tors is... less than satisfied with the conclusion.

Ambrose Lucifera: I imagine he would be. Personally, I'd rather die than have to report failure to Count Fenring.
