House Harkonnen is a Great House, and one of the main factions that players can align their Guild with.

Introduction

House Harkonnen (/ˈhɑːrkənən/), also known as the Family Harkonnen, was a Great House of the Landsraad whose capital resided on the heavily industrialized world of Giedi Prime. Historical enemies for over 10000 years of House Atreides since the Battle of Corrin, the Harkonnens earned a notorious reputation for underhanded and sinister political tactics fueled by their ambition, malevolence, hatred, brutality and an undying thirst to destroy the Atreides bloodline to restore their honor.

In Dune: Awakening the current war effort is favoring House Harkonnen also due to the industry-heavy nature of their homeworld supplying their faction on Arrakeen.

In Dune:Awakening the first encounter with House Harkonnen in Haga Basin takes place in tradepost "The Anvil" where one meets Levenbrech Maxim Kazmir - one of the House Harkonnen's local lowe serverants - standing right next to his hated rival Lieutennant Anton Tolliver of House Atreides. Starting from there a quest chain is initialized betraying either side and joining the other in the War of Assasins. By choosing House Harkonnen the player embarks on journey where he learns quest by quest that his questgiver seeks nothing but advancement in hierarchy of House Harkonnen while completly disregarding the value of anyones life including the player's which leads to a failed assasination attempt by the quest-giver himself. Surviving this the faction questline around the War of Assasins continues one level higher in the chain of command when the player is contacted by Simone von Konig going down even deeper in a path of betrayal ultimately leading down to the factions final quest-contact the Baron's very own twisted mentat-assasin Piter de Vries.
