Steal a schematic from the Yafeng Water Shipper family and get out undetected.
Briefing
Our Great House has a task for you. We have just learned the Yafengs are developing in their workshop in Wind Pass a new kind of mineral extractor to strip rare metals from asteroid-borne ore. An unlikely source of revenue for Water Shippers... which greatly interests one of our allies, who has a grudge against the family.
Steal the schematic, and bring us a working prototype. Make sure to cover your tracks, and sabotage their schematic on the way out.
Objectives
Reach the Water Shipper settlement
- Travel to Wind Pass
Find the Ore Extractor Schematic
- Reach the Field Engineering Workshop
- Read the workshop's logs
- Acquire the Ore Extractor Schematic
Build an Ore Extractor Prototype
- Gather Induction Coils
- Acquire an Ore Extractor Frame
- Craft the Ore Extractor Prototype
Gain access credentials to the Greenhouse
- Reach the Chief Engineer's station
- Search the Chief Engineer's desk
- Acquire the Chief Engineer's credentials
Sabotage the Yafengs' research in the Greenhouse
- Enter the R&D Lab below the workshop
- Steal the mineral samples
- Access the master schematic design terminal
- Alter the master design schematic
Cover your tracks
- Return to the Chief Engineer's workstation at the Mill
- Return the Chief Engineer's credentials
Escape from Wind Pass
- Return to the ornithopter
Findings
"Workshop Log: Ore Extractor Prototype" from objective: Find the Ore Extractor Schematic
Wind Pass is harsh on equipment. With the failure of our last prototype we are left with no working extractors. Luckily Chief Engineer Qaoli forgot his credentials again, so J.B. was able to transfer us a copy of his newest schematic from the Research and Development lab.
We have already built the frame, we just need to assemble the induction coil and scrap some salvaged metal. They're around the workshop and the garage next door.
Note: The prototype is not to leave the compound. Failure to comply will have severe consequences.
Accessing the Terminal from objective: Find the Ore Extractor Schematic
The stained and scratched screen lights up: "This remote access terminal is read-only." A list of schematics and scheduled repairs follows.
Player: Select the Ore Extractor Schematic.
Warning: This schematic is currently in restricted mode. Schematic adjustments from this terminal are not available.
Player: Download schematic and close session.
"Note" from objective: Gain access credentials to the Greenhouse
Chief - you left your R&D credentials by the console down in the Greenhouse again. One of these days someone's going to walk off with them.
- J.B.
Accessing the Master Terminal from objective: Sabotage the Yafengs' research in the Greenhouse
This terminal requires log-in credentials.
Player: Enter the Chief Engineer's credentials.
Credentials confirmed. Welcome, Chief Engineer Ren Qaoli.
Many of the entries on this terminal are in a jargon you do not understand. Among them, one reads "Ore Extractor, mark 5."
Player:
1. [TECHNOLOGIST] Alter the specifications of the induction coil. Invisible, efficient.
2. Swap a few components of the frame.
Schematic updated. Would you like to save your changes? This operation cannot be undone.
Player: Save your changes and close session.
Completion Message
We are pleased with your efforts. You left Wind Pass with the working prototype of the Ore Extractor. What's more, the Yafeng master schematic now carries a subtle flaw of our making. Future extractors will underperform and fail. This will give our allies an edge over their rivals, and our House increased influence where it counts.
