Lore
The village was named after Tsimpo, one of the early, governors of Arrakis. He gift an Arrakeen Conservatory, which is concealed within the Arrakeen Residence, to his wife, according to the Dune Encyclopedia.
Present day
Tsimpo was a village that sought to avoid the ravages of war by maintaining friendly relations with House Harkonnen.
However, a pro-Atreides group of villagers invited the Atreides army to protect them. Although the Atreides had sworn to protect the village from the Harkonnens, that oath was not kept when the Harkonnens returned to exact revenge.
The residents submitted to the Harkonnens once more, but the Harkonnens razed the village with artillery fire as punishment for the betrayal.
