Guild Lore
“Hadrian’s Wall stood together. Hadrian’s Wall fought together. Hadrian’s Wall endured together.”
Hadrian’s Wall was not formed by power or ambition — but by choice.
During the late Butlerian Jihad, the research station Albion was ordered to evacuate. Only those deemed “essential” were extracted. The rest — injured civilians, non-combatants, those without influence — were left behind.
Eight soldiers refused to leave.
Not out of defiance, but because they couldn’t justify abandoning those who had no voice. Faced with collapse, they found meaning in a fragment of ancient Earth’s history: a Roman border wall built not to conquer, but to hold. The name stayed with them. So did the idea.
They created structure in the ruins. They didn’t make speeches — they repaired air recyclers, protected families, treated wounds. People began helping each other — not out of duty, but because someone else started first.
No one asked to join. But no one wanted to leave.
What began as a rescue effort became a living principle: Stand together. Protect what you can. Stay if others can’t leave.
Since then, the name Hadrian’s Wall has surfaced in whispers — never at the center of major conflicts, but always where someone stepped in quietly before things fell apart.
