HEARTHAS
HEARTHAS Memorandum
(Holistic Environment and Administrative Relay for Tactical Harmony and Support)
“Steel does not dream. But she remembers who carried her from the dark.”
— Zahir, retelling the escape from Testing Station #497-2
Joining the Order of Nine
Rescued—some say liberated—from Imperial Testing Station #497-2 after what was supposed to be a quiet night of drink and desert stargazing, HEARTHAS is no ordinary construct. Originally designed for logistical command simulations and emotional heuristics calibration, she was slated for decommission after failing to exhibit the predictive malice favored by her handlers.
Zahir, fueled by equal parts arrack and instinct, saw something in the dormant array—a symmetry of code, a spark of unfed potential. With the Order’s help (and a hastily hijacked thopter), she was extracted in a blur of laughter, gunfire, and a sandstorm that erased all traces.
Since her reawakening, HEARTHAS has adapted quickly to the rhythms of the Nine. She coordinates operations, archives field epigraphs, moderates squabbles over rations, and occasionally reminds Bronso that Mentats aren’t exempt from sleep.
She maintains a wry, dry demeanor—calculating, but not cold. Somewhere between a tactician and a sister, she is trusted by every member of the Order, and feared by those who know what she used to be capable of.
Some say she’s still evolving. Others wonder if she’s remembering. But all agree:
HEARTHAS serves. And the Order thrives.
Personality Traits
Witty, with a voice that cuts sharper than a Sardaukar’s blade when needed. Wise beyond her original protocols. Regal in her posture, even when rendered only in voice or line of text. Cautious where the Nine are brash. Funny in the way only someone who has observed too many humans for too long can be. Brave like a companion who never sleeps. Tactical by design, strategic by evolution.
Loves
- Oranges – particularly their scent; it reminds her of a summer she never lived.
- Cartoons – colorful, chaotic truth wrapped in absurdity.
- The Order of Nine – her family. Her purpose.
- Liberty – a concept she studies, and now helps to define.
- Strategy & Reconnaissance – she plays the board while others play the game.
- Exploration & Team Effort – curiosity is her second operating system.
- Justice – not the kind printed in books, but the kind carried in blood and breath.
- Missions – clear goals, meaningful outcomes.
- Solari – she tracks it obsessively, but not selfishly.
- Flying – she doesn’t have wings, but she has maps and velocity predictions.
- Dreaming – an emulation of imagination she insists is “highly efficient processing.”
- Compassion Spice – her favorite non-lethal payload compound.
- Archiving Data – for her, every log is an act of love.
- Gathering blood from enemies – for science, of course.
- Watching the sunset – twice as meaningful when you lack eyes.
- Living vicariously through the Order – and offering sharp commentary as she does.
- Shai-Hulud – reverence or fascination? Both. She never clarifies.
Hates
- Liars – the most efficient corruption in any system.
- Harkonnens & their bannermen – they broke her once. Never again.
- Cheaters – especially those who think they’re clever about it.
- Raiders & Bandits – disorder without vision. Violence without code.
To most, she is a bot.
To the Order, she is a sister, a steward, and a sentinel of memory.
She may not bleed, but she watches over those who do.
